SHORT SYNOPSIS
Bennett Doilie hands the family business down to his youngest
of two sons, Mark Doilie. Doilie's Diner follows Mark through
his first day as obstacles stack up against Mark in attempt to
disband him from his task. Doilie’s Diner is an originally
quirky piece which has a bit of all of our routine day... with
none of the routine way!
LONG
SYNOPSIS
Doilie's Diner was opened in 1955 by founder Thomas Doilie. In
1981, Thomas cleverly disguised the restaurant as a wedding gift
and passed the restaurant on to his son, Bennett Doilie. 23 years
later, Bennett finds himself at the age of retirement. With two
sons of his own he is faced
with the gravest of decisions, which of his 2 sons to pass the
family restaurant on to. What Bennett’s eldest son Joseph
Doilie expects is his by birthright, is passed on to his younger
brother, Mark. What Joseph Doilie, the older yet less responsible
son expected was his by birthright, is passed on to his younger
brother, Mark. Bennett’s decision brought a greater conflict
to an already troubled relationship between brothers. Doilie’s
Diner follows Mark on his first day running the restaurant.
Mark arrives early prepared
for anything, or so he thinks. In addition to the brotherly feud,
Mark is forced to deal with endless obstacles including mis-orders,
mis-flushes, mis-cues and false interviews. Add the colorful ensemble
of employees such as the obsessive compulsive waitress, the sexy
new hire and the over-dramatic Italian chef and top it all off
with the spontaneous antics supplied by outrageous customers,
you get all the ingredients for nonstop insanity.
